With the CVS Corp. buyout of Osco, this store is to merge with the one at 2435 E. Independence Avenue. The drugstore at this location on Main is busy and heavily used by people who work downtown. They have recently added more groceries to meet the need of the growing downtown residential population.

Photograph of Osco Drugstore at 3948 Main, at the corner of Main Street and Westport Road, circa 1990. The building was originally designed by local architect Clarence Kivett and opened as a Katz Drug Store in 1934. After Skaggs acquired the Katz chain in 1971, the stores began operating under the Skaggs name. In 1985, the store became an Osco drug store after another round of mergers and rebranding.
