From Days Gone By, a Tradition Worth Keeping
-
Description
-
Article recalls the Christmas parties given for their employees by Virginia and Jud Putsch, owners of several Putschs' restaurants in the area during the 1940s to early 1970s. "Foremost, there was the fine dining of Putsch's 210, named for its address on the Country Club Plaza (210 W. 47th Street). Later came a series of coffeehouses and cafeterias." Virginia gave of her energy to make the parties special. "Virginia Putsch kept a notebook listing every employee's child and their age. Each child was given a gift. No child was ever left out. And no child ever received the same gift twice." Includes a picture of Virginia and Jud Putsch as well as the article's author being held by her mother.
