Featured in the "Postcards of Historic Northeast" column is one entitled "A Partial View of Our Immense Plant, Kansas City, Mo." The Monarch Vinegar Works was located at 2400 Nicholson Avenue in the East bottoms and a form of the company is still manufacturing vinegar today. John Wesley Speas owned the company early on and changed the name to Speas Manufacturing Company and his son Victor continued with the company, expanding into several states. It is run by Mizkan Americas today.
