Golf course #1 was for whites only, while golf course #2, a much smaller and poorly maintained course, was for blacks. Reuben Benton, George Johnson, Leroy Doty, and Sylvester "Pat" Johnson quietly and persistently integrated course #1 by playing repeatedly there.
