Construction on the building was completed in 1927; it served as a dormitory for the nurses of Children's Mercy Hospital. In 1971, KCUMB Alumni Association purchased the building and donated to the university. The building was renovated in the early 1990s. In 1999 the building was renamed after Leonard Smith, DO. Located in the Pendleton Heights neighborhood.
