Missouri Valley Special Collections staff have been hard at work adding new content to KCHistory. Below, you will find a list of newly digitized objects added to the site during the month of February. A notable addition is a copy of a Kansas City, Kansas, atlas printed by the Rascher Map Publishing company in 1889. Like Sanborn fire insurance maps, its 36 plates were subsequently updated with pasted in sections. This revised volume was updated through 1891. The atlas captures early glimpses of downtown KCK, Argentine, Armourdale, Rosedale, and other areas west of the state line. The livestock and meat packing industries on the Kansas side of the West Bottoms are prominently featured. We are excited to make this rare map set available to researchers.
